Tiny Golden Fish of the Sea
It’s the details that count!
Meet the Golden Phase Rough Headed Blenny.
This is a special photo by Cozumel, Quintana Roo Mexico resident Vicky (after a few tacos we call her Juanita), who reminds us that we mostly see black blennys…this golden one was a great find.
The Blenny family of fish is vast, and not to be confused with Gobys. Blennys have very fun big eyes and seaweed-antler type eyebrows which make them appear very animated.
This same itty bitty Golden Blenny is also found in Grand Cayman and Belize…there is one photography site in Grand Cayman where people dive just to find these guys.
Underwater we think they are as big as our finger, when really they are about as tiny as the diameter of cooked spaghetti. They dart in and out of tiny holes and tubes making them almost impossible to photograph. Adorable!
Thank You and Photo Credits to Vicky Norman.
